Clifford was found guilty of raping his ex-partner Louise before murdering her and her family at Cambridge Crown Court on Thursday.
The 26-year-old former soldier became “enraged” when his Louise ended their 18-month relationship - which led to him plotting the “carefully planned and executed” killings on July 9 last year.
Clifford gained access to the family home by deceiving 61-year-old Carol Hunt, the wife of BBC racing commentator John Hunt, before stabbing her to death in a “brutal knife attack”.
After killing Mrs Hunt, the defendant then “lay in wait” for an hour for Louise to enter the house, before restraining, raping and ultimately murdering her with a crossbow.
He then fatally shot 28-year-old Hannah Hunt when she returned to the property in the quiet cul-de-sac of Ashlyn Close in Bushey, Hertfordshire, after work.
Less than 24 hours before the murders, Clifford had searched for Andrew Tate’s podcast, with prosecutor Alison Morgan KC telling the court: “It’s misogynistic, trying to control Louise Hunt in the context of a final act of spite. You can see how the mind was working.”
This has got nothing to do with Andrew Tate. Eminem was blamed for school shootings in the early 2000s but they still happen today. This murderer would of carried out these crimes regardless of Andrew Tates influence.
It has been well established at this point that Tate and similar influencers truly do influence their audience, increasing rates of radicalization and misogyny among young men in particular.
There are parallels between the moral panic around social media and those of the past, including Eminem, Marilyn Mason, Mortal Kombat, Dungeons and Dragons and Pinball.
But there’s also a world of difference between some violent media and the 24hr assault of misogynistic content put out by Tate and others in the manosphere. It’s specifically designed to trap kids and increase they’re feelings of alienation and hate so they become more and more reliant on the “community” of other angry young men.
This person made his own decisions, he’s the only person responsible for what he did but the content he was watching fuelled his anger and his hatred of women.
Yeah comparing violent video games and propaganda for violent misogyny is obtuse
Was Eminem preaching hate against schoolchildren?
“I take seven {kids} from {Columbine}, stand 'em all in line Add an AK-47, a revolver, a .9 A MAC-11 and it oughta solve the problem of mine And that’s a whole school of bullies shot up all at one time (Ahh-! Ahh-ahh-!)”
Edit: I want to add that the context, like always, is more nuanced. But it is foolish to say music has no impact.
If a song can make you feel happy and sad, it can also make you feel angry. I’m not saying an artist should be restricted in their art, but that we should also accept that art influences people.
I was a teenager when he released the Slim Shady and Marshall Mathers LPs. It was pretty obvious to me that the more extreme takes were an act. Which is very different from Tate and the like, who claim society lies to men and they are revealing the truth.
Why do you think every time there’s a school shooting, it’s a weird right-winger, and the only leftist mass shooting in the last decade was directed at congress?
If mass shooters were randomized among <30s, we’d expect way more lib and left shooters, because most <30s are lib and left.
Andrew Tate is the actual guy, while Eminen was just a character. Marshall Matters was a guy who was trying to raise a daughter and give her a normal childhood, all while her mother and himself were fighting severe drug addiction.
I don’t get it, do people think this murderer would not have comitted those crimes if he didn’t binge Andrew Tate? He would of regardless.
