Apparently, l put my index finger on D with my ring finger on A. My middle finger moves between W and S l. My pinky rests on Shift and the heel of my hand is ready to go to Ctrl.

That said, I tested this on a laptop. I’m not sure my finger layout is the same on my desktop.

Ah, well, fair enough. I guess I’m satisfied with the basic controls in most games I play and I know a lot of keyboard shortcuts for the OS. Though a foot switch might be more efficient than my approach, it would probably take me longer to adjust and become accustomed to it than the time it would save.

Sometimes I am reminded of a book I read as a kid wherein one of the main characters dies and is eventually resurrected. She says that when you die, you don’t lose awareness or move on, you just passively occupy the body without the ability to move (like locked-in syndrome, I guess, but I didn’t know that as a kid and don’t know whether it was even recognized back then). In particular she describes the horrors of her autopsy.

If that were true, I wonder whether the person within the cadaver would be embarrassed to have caused such inconvenience. I know I would.

I press left modifier keys, primarily Ctrl, with the heel of my hand. Anyone who notices me do this calls me an abomination, but it just seems more efficient to me.

I think I hold WASD the same way no matter what I’m doing, but I’ve never examined it before.
