Then why are all those cephalopods so closely related to all the other non-cephalopod molluscs?

The fact that there are very few fossils of soft bodied creatures kinda misses the point.
All the evolutionary diversity of molluscs is still alive. Squids, nautiluses, cuttlefish, snails slugs.
What’s the hypothesis here? An alien meteorite landed with 800 types of cephalopod, that just by chance share 97% of their DNA with slugs and snails that already existed on Earth?

I think we are supposed to think about Gatsby the same way the narrator, Nick, thinks about Gatsby.
A great man, a true romantic, but not one suited to this corrupt, fallible world. His relationship to Daisy was a bit more complex than just stalking, she did love him, she just wasn’t capable of leaving Tom.
“No— Gatsby turned out all right at the end. It is what preyed on Gatsby, what foul dust floated in the wake of his dreams that temporarily closed out my interest in the abortive sorrows and short-winded elations of men”

TheIvoryTower@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How can children be introduced to digital technology and the internet in a playful way? At what age is this appropriate? And how can this be done without exposing children to all the negative aspects?35·2 months agoThe best thing we have done is make all computers be in the same room, and no personal digital devices until they are old enough.
Just being able to give oversight is the most important thing.
You do need to be able to say “youre not old enough for that yet” and then explain why. Luckily my kids accept that when its explained.

TheIvoryTower@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How can I confirm evolution is real?8·4 months agoIf you look at all the traits animals and plants have, there are correlations and patterns unrelated to the environment, consistent only with a pattern of descent with modification.
For example, all the animals that produce milk also have fur, while all the animals with beaks and hollow bones also have feathers.
These groups of correlated organisms are found regardless of their environment, so penguins have all the bird traits even though they live in the ocean, seals have all the mammal traits even though they live in the ocean.
This pattern only has one consistent explanation: life on earth is a result of descent with modification: evolution.
Probably a good idea to let him know how you are being treated.
My partner and I deal with toxic family by cutting them out of our lives. Only got time for kind people.
