NocturnalEngineer@lemmy.worldto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Things are getting really crazy.9·2 months agoI do wonder if there’s a possible tipping point caused by event so egregious, so unjust, that The Onion would feel compelled to report on it factually & earnestly…
And they just become a legitimate source of the news.
NocturnalEngineer@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Two-thirds of global heating caused by richest 10%, study suggestsEnglish20·2 months agoIs there a source for this?
This was my assumption, but when I searched earlier, I could only find sources citing the top 12% was above $100k
I’m assuming I’ve misunderstood something.

It’s just everywhere, on every social platform.

It won’t stop at just chlorinated chicken.
NocturnalEngineer@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Trump reportedly growing angry over ongoing Russia-Ukraine aerial strikesEnglish3·3 months agoAfter the The Atlantic breach it’s clear they view themselves as the world police.
The user identified as Hegseth responded three minutes later: “VP: I fully share your loathing of European free-loading. It’s PATHETIC. But Mike is correct, we are the only ones on the planet (on our side of the ledger) who can do this. Nobody else even close.
NocturnalEngineer@lemmy.worldto BuyFromEU@feddit.org•Common imports from the US. Be aware and check the origin!English9·4 months agoAs a democracy voted, the US voted for Trump - this is exactly what was signposted in Project 2025 & his campaign trails. We’ve another 4 years of this tariff bullshit, and his threats to annex Canada / Greenland, and him siding with Putin.
This isn’t punishment, this is the EU not siding with the bullies. If you don’t like the situation, use your power as a US voter and make your voice heard.
You’ve absolutely got a point about billionaires. None of them should be trusted. But right now the biggest threat are the billionaires controlling social media + tech, which are predominantly US based.

NocturnalEngineer@lemmy.worldto memes@lemmy.world•Take your passkey and shove it where the sun don't shine11·4 months agoMy company insists on expiring passwords every 28 days, and prevents reuse of the last 24 passwords. Passwords must be 14+ characters long, with forced minimum complexity requirements. All systems automatically lock or logout after 10 minutes of inactivity, so users are forced to type in their credentials frequently throughout the day.
Yes people suck with creating decent credentials, but it’s the company’s security policies breeding that behavior.
NocturnalEngineer@lemmy.worldto Ask UK@feddit.uk•Why don't the news media report the reasons why migrants come to the UK on boats?111·4 months agoBecause that might invoke feelings of empathy & compassion for the human beings risking their lives travelling across the channel.
Or raise awareness to the criminal exploitation migrants suffer to just get a position on the boats. Or the continued exploitation they endure whilst living in the UK. Just ignore what possible reason someone would uproot their lives and travel thousands of miles illegally, I’m sure it was something small & trivial…
No no no… all our world’s problems are solely caused by migrants! Certainly not the billionaires exploiting everyone pushing the narrative.
NocturnalEngineer@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Bill Gates calls Elon Musk’s embrace of far-right politicians abroad ‘insane shit’English1·5 months agoMoney’s great and all, but where exactly would his spending help right now?
Trump’s brown-nosing billionaires have trillions between them, let alone foreign governments actively supporting the destabilisation of the western world.
The far-right has the market cornered on information & infrastructure control currently. Even Gates’ would struggle using his money to influence any meaningful change. It’s depressing.
Attacking their fragile egos of Nazis… Now that’s free and plentiful.
It’s never accidental…

NocturnalEngineer@lemmy.worldto Steam Deck@sopuli.xyz•[@GamersNexus] They Changed Everything: Valve Steam Deck OLED vs. LCD Tear-Down0·2 years agoWould be interesting in seeing the thermal and fan noise results.
Whilst I have no plans on buying the OLED edition, it did make me question that decision a couple of times watching these reviews come in. The LCD edition, with its quirks, is serving me just fine.
I’m also impressed with how candid Valve is bring with both their system & repairability improvements. Just wish other corporations did the same.
Can confirm, only video games in the UK too. Certainly not the 6th largest economy in the world worth £3.84 trillion. Nor a labour force with 74.9% in employment, that would be silly!
