It’s based off the best selling game ever with one of, if not the most dedicated and obsessed fanbase, and appeal to children. The Minecraft IP made so many people millionaires with content creation, it shouldn’t be a surprise that the same consumers would go see the official movie
Kids are off on spring break and it was a weekend. That’s the only reason.
And it’s one of the biggest video games ever. I played mincraft when it was just a beta, and pretty much stopped when the full release came out. When i think back and remember how long ago that was and i now see like 6 year olds with mincraft shirts is absolutely wild. Yeah no shit it’s successful
