They’re certainly native to the Americas, but they’re descended from a drastically different culture than the ones in the eventual US and Canada and targeted a lot more. I feel it’s accurate to differentiate Mexicans from (for example) Sioux or Navajo or Pequot, particularly when talking about modern day race relations in the United States.

I have a plan, we use X. It most commonly makes the KS sound, we already have K and S to handle that. X is already used for the CH sound occasionally, so just lean into that and make it X’s main role. “Xange the xannel please I hate Foks News”

I worked for my state briefly and they beat us over the head that anything we said in email or teams was archived and subject to FOIA requests. Shouldn’t be hard to find out what these folks were actually saying for any press agency with the balls to go looking for it.
