n_emoo@lemmy.cato World News@lemmy.world•80 Teslas damaged at Hamilton dealership, largest car vandalism reported in Canada against the U.S. company | CBC NewsEnglish1·1 month agoThe other commentator is right. Its easy to tell someone “just sell your car and walk” or whatever when you are not directly affected by the change you are asking someone else to make. Take a second and think of all the injustices in the world YOU are indirectly, involuntarily complicit in and what it might mean to be targeted for that reason. It is for this we offer charity to others, and therein is a clear line between wearing a nazi pin as a symbol and driving a Tesla, literally an appliance.
n_emoo@lemmy.cato Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why don't social media and the web in general implement asymmetric key signing to always be able to verify the source of a content, thus eliminating the risk of deep fakes and fake news?1·3 months agoDeepfakes are about impersonating the person in the video, fake news is… Well, just someone lying. Signatures are meant to verify the source of information, not the contents of it.
Simple example, we can be nearly 100% confident that the person posting tweets under the Trump account is (atleast authorized by) Trump. Doesnt stop him from lying nor uploading a deepfake video.
