Well it’s a white mushroom with gills so that narrows the possibility space to 1 mildly tasty shroom and eight gorillion super deadly poisonous liver failure shrooms

hedge_lord@lemmy.worldto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•There are major holes in this theoryEnglish10·6 days agoThe titanic WAS the iceberg! I feel like I’m going insane why can’t anyone remember this?? It was made of pykrete as part of Project Habakkuk and repurposed as an ocean liner because they thought it would be cheaper than building ships out of metal. And there weren’t any lifeboats, ice floats and the survivors could and did just cling to the wreckage. We didn’t (and still don’t) know what sunk it! It’s a whole mystery and apparently now we’re just pretending it’s solved??
!joke disclosure this is a joke!<
hedge_lord@lemmy.worldto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Everybody talks about beliefs like they're this big important thing.English1·8 days agoI do not believe in doors. Does that mean that I think that they should not exist or that I think that they do not exist? Yes actually!
Swimming :D
Swimming but I cannot see the bottom and everything around me and when I look underwater there is just a looming foggy void and anything could be down there oh shit what just brushed my leg wtf D:

How unusual is this and what could be happening to explain why spicy food doesn't affect me?English3·27 days agoSame! A few days ago I consumed a very spicy hot pot meal. It was spicy enough that my eyes were watering uncontrollably and I might not have eaten it except that I do not have much money and I’d already paid for the thing (and there’s also my occasionally problematic waste aversion but I digress). In the days since I’ve been hoping to experience some toilet spice but it just hasn’t happened! I wonder if I’ll get to experience it if I get older?
hedge_lord@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How would I pop a bag of popcorn without a microwave? English5·28 days agoIdk if it’d work the same for microwavable popcorn bags but a wok is a great popcorn preparation vessel. Just slap some tin foil on top to keep the popcorn in. I made pepcorn on a radiant stovetop with a flat bottom wok and it was great!
hedge_lord@lemmy.worldto Uplifting News@lemmy.world•Japanese Scientists Develop Artificial BloodEnglish8·1 month agoNo not at all why would you think that? Vampires are not real and we certainly do not use the internet.
I have difficulty expressing myself around unfamiliar people. I would hang out with myself because I know myself very well. If I did not know the other me and she did not know me, then we’d probably both assume that the other thinks we’re trash and would not hang out. But if we did then we’d enjoy it.

I didn’t really want to get close to it because its beak looks sharp. Turns out it’s pretty nice though. They are very trainable and excel at hunting. The peregrine falcon is the fastest animal on the planet.
hedge_lord@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How has standing or standing-sitting vs sitting while working affected your life?13·2 months agoChange posture every 30 minutes? I’m unlikely to last 30 seconds! I’m too groovy for that
hedge_lord@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's an important (in your opinion) skill too many people seem to lack?13·2 months agoI think that we should require more humanities courses for STEM degrees. I had to take some english courses but that was about it. Seems like a lot of STEM-lords (particularly the computer ones) need to take a cultural anthropology course and chill out a little. Or philosophy but that risks making them worse.
hedge_lord@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's an important (in your opinion) skill too many people seem to lack?2·2 months agoI feel that if people knew how much effort it takes to create their food products, they might be more hesitant to waste them. Even with things as simple as making bread! It’s not just something that appears on a shelf, it’s the result of whole process and should be valued as such.
hedge_lord@lemmy.worldto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•The small scale of Lemmy's active user base is never more evident than in the absence of active members in all the sports related communities.5·2 months agoSometimes I wish that I was into sports, it seems very fun! I feel like I would need to know people irl who are into sports in order to get into sports though. Are sports memes a big thing? I feel like those should/could be a big thing.

Considering using jpeg xl to reduce the size of my photos archive. It can convert to and from jpeg losslessly. Haven’t actually done it yet though
