  • Ai uses energy --> Using AI to make stupid shit uses energy for stupid things.

You can use mental gymnastics as much as you want about base load of electric grid or stabilising the load or what ever, but it does not change the fact that when you use AI it uses energy that would not be used othewise.

Saying that it does not matter if the generator powers your AI waifu or something else is just moronic. I can also say that leaving my tv on or not shutting my lights when leaving the house effects jack all in the global sense, but that is not reason to not shut those down when i leave my apartment.

  • Just to walk you trough my reasoning.

Change needs money. That 1,8% can generates lots of money that can be used to fight pollution in other ways. We could easily rise the taxation and that 1,8% could turn in to 1,5% or something.

If we start to ban private jets conpletelly by changings laws, it will be long process and even if one country bans it there will always be poor countries or tax heavens that will find a way to enable it. It will turn in to a game of aviation wack-a-mole and the gran price of that work will be 1,8% reduce in emission.

On the other hand we could make bigger impact from commercial side while not losing tax revenue as much. Its hard to get real numbers but its likely ghost flights alone are close to same pollution as private jets, not to mention that average commercial flights has only 80% of the seats filled.

So my thinking in short is that any impact with banning private jets is dwarfed by anything done in the commercial side.

And im not saying private jets are good. Im against those. People just need to understand that they are very minor part of the aviation pollution.

  • Great. Everybody has right for feelings.

Its almost like language is funny thing that can be ambiguous and interpreted in many ways. Often the way it suits the person reading it the best.

Im not expert but one might think that in this particular contects he might be using word treat as in the saying “prevention is the best medicine.” And some asshole could comment “I am no expert, but I feel prevention might not be medicine at all”

I dont like the dude and in all truth i could not care less about americans assbackwards medical care system, but i just hate when people take things out of context and try to spin it the way it is best for their own agenta moving the conversation towards hating person/country/religion/political group/ what ever they want instead of thinking that the person might have some idea.

Like in this case we could be writing how we could effect how to get people eat healthier instead of being smartasses.

  • Mostly agree with you, but two things.

    1. Movement techniques should always be optional and not necessity to do. Somebody wants to zip around and somebody wants to stay still and fire away. Some mechanics solve problems, but some just are there to give freedom.

    2. Guns. They have spend three main games and four spinoffs building the companies. At this point the manufactorers are basically characters. Why chance it?

I think it depends where they fight.

If polar bear would fight in the jungle it would get hot and go to drink water. At that time it would be completelly open for suplex from the gorilla.

And if they were to fight on the ice sheet the gorilla would not have any trees where to hang tire swing and he would get depressed and unintrested to fight. So in the end it boils down to what kind of social services and safety nets are in the arctic and can they help primates like 1989 released Belgian techno anthem Pump up the jam can help humans.
