CAVOK@lemmy.worldOPto Europe@feddit.org•Trump pulls plug on UK research into air pollution and global warmingEnglish5·1 day agoChina is also opening new coal plants iirc. A few years ago I heard that if my home country (Sweden) stopped all co2 emissions today, the co2 savings would have been wiped out in a week, by China opening new coal plants.
The US might have gone dumb, but that does not make China good.

We stand together or we get eaten by the US or China. Simple as.

CAVOK@lemmy.worldOPto Europe@feddit.org•French pension reform talks fail as projections show deficit to keep growingEnglish31·15 days agoThe living standard is also much higher now. More people expecting more help from the state with more complex problems. Let’s for example take a premature baby that would have died 20 years ago can now be saved and can live a long life, but needing 24x7 care by medical staff. Or the fact that our parents and grandparents live longer, but care and medicine cost a lot more.
I’m not disputing that the top takes too much, but the standard of care, medicine and other things cost too.

I don’t know much about her stance on trans people other than she seems to believe that there is a difference between trans and biological women. Feel free to drop a good link where I can educate myself.
Anyway, reading comments here make it sound like she’s a modern day Hitler that’s never done anything good in her life, and that sounds both unfair and untrue.

That cop should be prosecuted.
Depends on how you count I think. The lower tariff does almost nothing in offsetting the big drop in EU trade, so in pure economic terms it would have been better to have the full tariff but be a member of the EU. Kind of like dropping £100 and then seeing finding 10p a benefit.
