    eliminate duplicative functions and roles

“We already have a software engineer, that guy over there is a level 1 and he gets paid the lowest salary. So the rest of you are fired.”

It was nearly 200 according to the article.

Given the US has a lot of high value targets, this one seems particularly silly.

You can’t really undo data theft once it’s happened.

That’s the idea. Whoever is bankrolling this absurdist nightmare wants access to those juicy US military secrets.

Yet another instance of Trump shooting his own government in the foot so that way he has slightly more power in comparison. In his efforts to fill the government with loyalists, he weakens the very thing he paid money for. The long term consequences probably won’t hit him, but will doom the future of the America.

Wild theory. But isn’t it possible he’s making the USA more vulnerable to terror/other country attacks so he can start a war and stay as president for as long as the war goes on.

I don’t recall off the top of my head but I vaguely remember some other weakening of their defence like reducing air traffic control employees as well for instance

Who is going to invade the US? Canada? Mexico? Running a cross-ocean invasion is an enormous undertaking. Russia is already committed to Ukraine, and mostly focused on their European border anyway, there’s no way they’d shift everything east to invade across the Pacific. China could, except for all the US presence in Japan, Korea, the Philippines… Even if the US pulls out of those countries entirely, China would have more to gain by invading them, not the US.

Oh. I wouldn’t expect a proper invasion of USA, no way. I’d expect something of a much smaller scale that has a huge aggressive response from Trump so he could stay in government.

Probably not his intentions though. Just saw news about the Texas gerrymandering changes which makes it more likely to be the start of the path he can use to stay in government permanently
