oh, you didnt hear? avatar prints money lol

I don’t understand how. It feels like it has made absolutely zero cultural impact. The only time anyone gives a shit is when the new film comes out, gets torn to pieces for a shitty plot, infinite praise for the VISUAL FIDELITY and disappears as quickly as it arose. No one’s out there making references to it, dressing up like it or anything of the sort. The fucking films come out once a millenium. I have no idea what the fuck is going on.

At my local renfaire I occasionally see girls dressed up as blue avatar aliens. I’m not opposed 😄

But I always need to double-check if they’re dressed up as an alien or as Mystique

The whole cultural impact requirement that people pin on the Avatar movies is bizarre.

Why does that requirement only exist for Avatar.

Less than 1% of all movies made have cultural impact…

because the first avatar is one of the top 10 highest grossing films of all time, and the other films in the top 10 have some kind of cultural impact, although some have waned in relevance.

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_highest-grossing_films#Highest-grossing_films_adjusted_for_inflation

Avatar 2 was the highest grossing film of its year. The other top grossing films of the year also have some cultural relevance.

But it seems to have no artistic merit, no aspirational perspective, and a trash plot; yet make a bajillion dollars as a corporate product.

        That’s why.

I call bullshit, I saw first no others and only saw it the one time. Its a stupid fucking movie. Also we don’t make meme of it, nor would we be talking about it if dumb fucking articles didn’t come out like this. It is not in top 10 of nothing. It got great visual effects that’s it.

Avatar has been talked about at least weekly on every movie message board for the last 16 years but you think it has no cultural relevance?

Its sequel is on this list you posted as one of the most successful movies in history adjusted for inflation and it isn’t even a year old.

Yet you think the avatar movies have no cultural relevance?

When it comes to cultural relevance Avatar gets more attention than anything else on that list except maybe the incels that whine about the “girl power” scene the Avenger’s movie.

was it about how the film made the people feel, how they were looking forward to sharing it with their kids, their passion for the world it built , or was it on its performance in the box office or the technical achievement of the film?

Because one means it’s about as relevant as McDonalds, the other means it’s about as relevant as Star Trek.

Do people want to share Avatar with their kids?

Disney World’s Pandora the World of Avatar gets over 12 million visitors a year. It pulls attendance from all other areas of the park…

              So yeah they do.
