The ruling United Russia party in Russia’s northern Murmansk region has sparked controversy after gifting meat grinders to the mothers of soldiers killed in Ukraine.
A certain level of officials in Russia kinda has to make this sort of proofs of their work. I don’t think it’s a law or anything like that, but it’s a strong cultural thing. Similar to how companies can send employees to “volunteer” with something, expecting them to make photos with brands visible and stuff.
It’s all PR work. Ever more important when your party is busy doing everything it can to ruin the country further.
