There is no ads, and no repost bot.
OP shouldn’t lie. Lemmy is full with repost bots - some of them even have a pulse
At least they’re clearly marked as bots
Kind of surprising given how much r/RedditAlternatives is biased towards people who didn’t find any alternative because they’re excessively picky and/or create problems out of thin air.
Regarding the smaller userbase: …seriously, nobody will find a Reddit alternative. It’s stuff that we need to build.
[I would contribute but Reddit shadowbanned my account so…]
If you have reddit go hype it up or downvote naysayers, theres always way more ppl voicing dissent in comments driding reddit even if they get upvotes
“It simply doesn’t have the userbase (ie the people aren’t there, they’re all here…) and there’s censorship and shenanigans even with the “Fediverse” model. Basically, the worst of all worlds, combined. At least with Reddit, all the peeps are here.” Its always them claiming some censorship bs, I have yet to be censored here, id get a comment removed once a week on reddit.
What censorship do they even mean??? There’s everything from super liberal .world to Grad to anarchist db0 to actual straight up Naziverse instances. What possible censorship could they be talking about?
You definitely need to police yourself better here but that’s because actual humans are making the judgement calls vs programs.
The trade off for me is I suspect if I told an instance owner there was CSAM on their instance they would not struggle to keep it up.
Idk I go out of pocket ocasisonally (relative to what id say on redditg to test the waters, I may be getting blocked and not know it, but at least not getting comments deleted on any profiles
It’s funny to me that they are in a “reddit alternatives” forum, but somehow expect there to be a ready-made Reddit alternative out there with a comparable user base.
As if they’re running a search mission where thousands of users are searching the Internet for a mythical website - an El Dorado - where millions of users have been active for centuries, dancing around and living happily, just outside the field of vision of the Redditors. It’s not a matter of creating a community, it’s merely a matter of discovering it.
Im not even gonna lie, that is close to what I was looking for back when I joined that sub, I just assumed there was one out there I was missing lmao (it was lemmy, it was always lemmy, I just needed to use it for a hour)
Nice analogy ha ha
I’m surprised it hasn’t been removed by the r/redditAlternatives mod. Good!

You can’t wait for a sudden “grow” out of the blue, without actually putting effort into it. Be the change you want to see
The admins are usually the ones removing
Plus that’s literally what the sub is for. There’s been people promoting lemmy there for years
My bad. I thought since they removed rimu’s post and the community seems to think negatively of us (from what i’ve seen.)
m surprised it hasn’t been removed by the r/redditAlternatives mod.
Again, I’ve never seen any of my posts similar to the one removed
Sorry. I only knew how hostile they are and that they removed rimu’s post 👍
Rimu’s post removal was a shame.
@[email protected], do you still have the post content? I can try posting it in the coming days.
Sorry, can’t remember which post it is.
Just read the discussion quickly. That’s nice to see people discussing it.
Imho, telling people they’re wrong, or that they don’t get it (even if that was true) when they are complaining about this or that on Lemmy won’t help them change their mind about Lemmy.
I mean, beside a few trolls that just want to drop their poop every chance they get, when someone says they have an issue using Lemmy it’s… because there is indeed something that is annoying them. If not blindingly agree with them at least we should acknowledge they’re having an issue. Some of them being quite obvious.
The servers/instances selection step when creating an account is an important one, imho. Maybe we should try to think of a simplified/illustrative explanation that would help new users overcome that confusing part?
Pretty sure that once they start using Lemmy, most will get their own bearings but for that to happen they need to start using it, and for that they need to create an account on one instance among many, and then be able to find and subscribe to a few communities on any instance. I don’t think they need to be told they’re wrong, or that they don’t understand (or they have shitty taste and preferences) ;)

Such as those posts?
Good idea, someone should link these (i would but i don’t have an acc x) )
Yep :)
