The Babylonians knew a * b = 1/4 * ( (a+b)^2 - (a-b)^2 ), and used tables of 1/4 * x^2 to do multiplication by addition. It took three thousand years for Napier to discover modern logarithms. The slide rule was invented eight years later.

AI tends to be distinct, because things move so fast that we’re exposing programmers’ stupid internal names.
What an obviously terrible name.
Well yeah, Perl is write-only. Larry Wall asked the monkey’s paw for a language that works on the first try. What’s onscreen are your raw brain patterns.
Thank god it runs like crap. Optimized C isn’t pretty, but any project that compiles proves someone looked at it more than once.

This seems more like “angry dog noises.”
Oh that’s why it’s called Operation Clambake.
Thirteen furries just had an aneurysm.
mindbleach@sh.itjust.worksto Android@lemdro.id•Google Pixel 7 gets sales ban in Japan, Pixel 8 and Pixel 9 also face sales banEnglish122·14 days agohow many ways can you really communicate with a cell tower?
Analog encoding assigns each device in a cell its own frequency range.
Time-domain multiplexing assigns each device a fraction of a second to transmit.
Quadrature phase-shift keying alters the timing of a signal to convey data.
Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing has each device transmit the same signal over P out of Q bands, such that each device’s signal can be reconstructed by knowing which bands it transmitted on.
There’s a fucking reason your phone is faster now than in 2010.

Going from analog, to time-domain shenanigans, to binary wizard math, is why you can watch 720p video and whine that it’s not 1080p.
It’s the Vimes doctrine: if they can do it for a good reason, they can do it for a bad reason.
