Piastri agrees new multi-year contract extension at McLaren

McLaren and Oscar Piastri have agreed a new multi-year contract extension that the British team say will keep the Australian with them “for the long term”.

Motorsport reports that this deal will likely take him to at least 2028.

    Not surprising – McLaren gets to keep the most successful current driver pairing on the grid for two more years and Piastri gets to keep a seat in the most recent WCC-winning car for two more years. Makes sense to have Piastri there for the first year of the new regs in 2026 too

    I’m honestly shocked, I would have expected him to hang on through next year and parley that to a seat wherever they figured out the regs. Imagine him in the second Red Bull.

    Very glad as a McLaren fan that he’s around a while
